The Pre-action Protocol for Construction & Engineering is a legal requirement under the Civil Procedure Rules designed to prevent large debtors from intimidating smaller contractors with the threat of large legal costs or claims for liquidated damages. For disputes that can not be settled with negotiation, SGP can take both you and your debtor through the Pre-action Protocol, the aim of which is to reach a settlement without costly and time consuming court intervention.

We may facilitate a meeting between you and your debtor to encourage full disclosure and negotiation.  Our Finance Director will attend this meeting with you to ensure you reach the best settlement possible. (Debtor meetings are by pre-agreement only)
